THE OKINAWAN KARATE MASTERS OF
THE GERMAN BUDO GALA
In 1997 Sensei Dollar traveled to
Essen in Northern Germany to join Seiko Toyama, Kiyohide
Shinjo and eight other Okinawan Masters participating in the
1997 Budo Gala. Dollar and Haberzettl spent three days
acting as "roadies" for the prestigious Okinawan
Demonstration Team.
The Budo Gala, dedicated to the
"Spirit of Budo", is a martial arts exhibition of grand
scale. It is sponsored by Budo Magazine, the largest martial
arts magazine in Germany. They gathered martial artists from
Okinawa, Japan, America, and all over Europe to demonstrate
all aspects of karate, wrestling, weapons, sparring,
breaking, and showmanship.
